The Creek House is an exciting new project in the early design stage. An iconic 1970s style home set amongst native bushland and spectacular tall eucalyptus trees, the house is bounded by a small creek.
Lacking a sense of entry, natural light and connection to the beautiful surrounds, the home has many opportunities to enhance the spaces for living. The client's love of design and passion for making timber furniture has given the freedom to incorporate and explore creative design ideas.
The client's will to 'experience' the home begins with the visitor's journey from the the street. Connection to their surroundings are created through the use of natural materials, filtered light and our usual high energy efficient design.
Glass with copper laser cut screens cladding filter light into the entry. Once inside, the timber lined wall with a seductive brass window invites the visitor to look into an internal Japanese courtyard - a defining feature of the home.
Other materials including gabion stone walls and charred timber cladding (shou sugi ban) combined with the landscaping and existing brick give an exciting visual aesthetic.
